The influenza immunisation programme is starting on 1st April 2022. A slight change to this year’s programme is that the funded free vaccine criteria has slightly expanded to include Maori and Pacific people aged 55 to 64 years old. As with previous years, people aged over 65 or in any of the high risk groups below are eligible for a free flu vaccine.

  • Pregnant women
  • People aged 65 years and older
  • Maori and Pacific people aged 55 to 64 years
  • Children under 5 years old with serious lung conditions
  • People with asthma, heart disease, diabetes and other health conditions that make them more susceptible to influenza

Please note the free vaccine can be given at any time in relation to the COVID vaccine except Novavax (3 day interval).
